Kilmalkedar

Holy Well and Cross Slab

There are two wells located at Kilmalkedar. This well is situated in the field to the west of the main road on the opposite side to Kilmalkedar Church. The well, which is now dry, is not noticeable from the road. Look for the small cross inscribed pillar standing next to it. The pillar is 0.92 metres high with a simple latin cross inscribed on the west face. The well was included in the rounds during the turas held at Kilmalkedar. The second well is known as Tobar Bréanainn - St Brendan's Well - It is located next to St Brendan's House. Unfortunately access was blocked to this site.

Situated:From Dingle head west on the R 559 then turn right for Baile na Fheirtearaigh, also the R 559. The Holy Well is in the field on your left about 7 kilometres from Dingle. Look for the kissing gate.
